Pain in the eyebrow is a common symptom experienced by millions of people around the world. It can be caused by sinus infections, temporal arteritis, tension headaches, and more.

 

What Causes of Eyebrow Pain

  1. Glaucoma

Glaucoma refers to increased pressure in the eye; it causes pain below the eyebrows. Glaucoma is most common in older people, as well as in people with genetic predispositions. Symptoms of Glaucoma:

  • Hazy eyes
  • Sharp pain in the eyes

Esophoria refers to an eye disorder that occurs due to inward deviation of the eye due to ocular muscle imbalance. Thus, pain below the eyebrow occurs.

Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is the tissue that covers the white part of the eye. The inflammation that cause pain in eyebrow and eye socketcan be brought about by allergic reactions to things like pollen and dust, bacteria, irritants and viruses such as a common cold. Symptoms of Conjunctivitis:

It happens because the temporal artery, which runs from the side of the head near the eye, gets inflamed. Eyebrow pain can occur in temporal arteritis, although it’s not the most common symptom.

Cluster headaches are severe head pain often concentrated around the lower forehead and are another common cause of headache in eyebrow bone.

Opththalmoplegia is a disorder that is characterized by the paralysis of the eye muscles.

Immediately seek medical attention if you or someone you are caring for experiences any of the following

  • Discomfort or a mild burning sensation
  • Swollen or drooping eye
  • Smaller pupil in the eye
  • Eye redness or watering
  • Runny or congested nose
  • Red, warm face
  • Stiff neck and a high fever associated with headache
  • Sudden onset of a severe headache
  • Loss of motor function, the ability to think clearly, or convulsions associated with headache
  • Head injury
  • Fever and neck pain present.

 

How to Prevent Eyebrow Pain

  • Control alcohol use (don’t consume alcohol, alcohol is harmful for health).
  • Limit Caffeine usage.
  • Avoid Sugary foods and processed foods.
  • Limit Excess Bright lights.
  • Avoid Absence of sleep or changes in sleep patterns.
  • Take riboflavin (a B-vitamin) or vitamin D
  • Routine Workout
